Star Ruby earrings
with Redgold
Using some clients red gold and star rubies with some more redgold added. Above top left photo is the redgold with the next photo showing gold after melting and rolling out to sheet. Third photo shows the settings taking shape and the 4th photo with the back being pierced out. Next shows the setting claws being cut away, with the 6th photo puting the rubies in to make sure they fit.The 7th photo is the unset earrings and finally the last photo the rubies are set and polished.Examples of work created

Simon trained as a diamond mounter, completing a goldsmith apprenticeship. In the 30 years working in the trade has worked for county style jewellers and workshops. As a working goldsmith he has been offering his skills from classic diamond mounting, +setting, silversmithing & wax carving and some enamelling to incoporting 3d design,3d printing, 3d scanning to create loved jewellery from inherited or damaged pieces or any new bullion, both by hand & modern techniques. Miniatures have been made by simon the the collector for the 20 years, from silver candelabra to bronze sculptures all in miniature 1/12th scale! Goldsmithing and jewellery are one of the oldest forms of recycling! Of course with such a precious metal and gems it would only be natural that pieces would be made bolder, re-inspired with new creativity or simply remade for a loved one. What Simon offers is the opportunity to reimagine something old or damaged, remelting in the crucible and start the journey to a chrished creation of the goldsmiths art.
